Popped over to the Geylang Serai Bazaar and light-up for a look-see. I haven’t visited this for seven years, not since moving away from Geylang in 2010. Lots of recent online coverage piqued my interest. I decided to make a trip to see how it’s like nowadays.
It’s large. Much larger than the ones I used to stroll by. I can’t remember exactly as it’s been a while, and there’s been tons of changes in the area, but I think the current bazaar covers what was once the Malay Village. There are also long rows of stalls lining one side of Geylang Road, all the way from Haig Road to Joo Chiat. Definitely some major festive preparation ongoing here! The whole area was abuzz with activity, and full of people of all ethnicities.
This being Singapore, food is, of course, a major emphasis. Both snacks for guests and cooked food.
